“The first time I saw Sweh was when he was fixing the cold tub in our locker room, and I couldn’t help but wonder why all of my new teammates would interact with him like they knew him their whole life. From that time forward I attended his weekly Bible studies with the team, and joined numerous NDCA fellowship nights. My 2 takeaways from my time with Sweh were that he always treated everyone equally, and he was an escape from the craziness I had to deal with at times. Lastly, Sweh teaches directly from the Word. It is not a motivational speech session; we are learning the Bible, learning Jesus!”

Playing football at the University of Notre Dame was one of the greatest experiences of my life, not only because of the opportunities and adventures it brought, but because of the incredible people I met along the way. One of those people was Sweh, who faithfully led our weekly fellowship meetings in the Gug. Those nights helped me keep everything in perspective and appreciate what a blessing it was to play for the Irish. I’ll always remember the Coke bottle analogy he shared before a primetime College GameDay matchup: “If the faith within is greater than the pressure on the outside, you can never be crushed.” I’m a better athlete and a better man because of those evenings surrounded by my brothers in Christ!
